Two days of hanging out, plus some moldy slime

MondaySar and I hitched a ride to Oradea with Dave and explored their walking street while he ran errands.  I loved the beautiful old architecture! The only thing that stopped me from taking countless pictures was not wanting to look that much like a tourist.  (We were already the quick-google-the-word-for-"bill"-so-we-can-ask-for-it-when-she-comes-back and the how-much-do-they-leave-for-tip-around-here? people.)

Two worlds living next door to each other

Friday: This weekend was Iza's birthday and the kids had a blast making "human sundaes," which is basically an adults worst nightmare: children running everywhere, covered in whipped cream and flavored syrup, hyped up on cupcakes and soda, begging for water balloons to throw at one another.

Upper left: Simona's super sweet smile
Upper center: Chris hosing off the "human sundaes"
Upper right: Samu managed to get frosting on his nose before biting into his cupcake for the first time
Left top middle: Abel, David, Samu and Simona pose for a picture before the waterfight begins
Left bottom middle: Sarah and the AMAZING zebra cupcake "cocktails"
Bottom left: Kaleena pretends she didn't get a cupcake, but the frostin on her face tells a different story
Bottom right: The kids spontaneously toast to Iza's tenth birthday "La multi ani!"

Finding joy in pee and poop

Tuesday: A journey to the supermarket when you don't speak the local language... Sar accidentally bought a lottery ticket and I held up the line for several minutes while an employee ran off to weigh my produce because apparently they don't have scales at the cash register.  Whoops!

Sergiu (share-JZOO) is my newest favorite preemie

Countdown Complete. Tomorrow We Fly.

Countdown: 1 day to Europa!

Ok.
I've removed all my valuables (all three of them) from aforementioned apartment.
I've called the credit card companies to let them know, yes, it is in fact me buying gelato in Italy every day.
I've checked that the threatened flooding of the Danube will not actually cause Sar and I to have to swim our way from Budapest to Oradea.
I've managed this incredible feat:

PHENOMENAL AMOUNT OF (PROBABLY ULTIMATELY UNNECESSARY) STUFF...itty bitty packing space

And yet I am sure I've forgotten something important. Like making sure my passport hasn't expired.

This time tomorrow it will be wheels up, and I'll be on my way to fantastic and amazing...well, Detroit.  But then Europe!

Quick updates and photos will be posted to my Twitter and longer summaries and stories will be posted here.
